LNER Goes Multi-Lingual
Ahead of World Tourism Day (Sunday 27 September), LNER has upgraded its onboard digital service, making it easier for customers to check the latest travel information in a variety of languages.
‘All Onboard’ can be accessed by scanning the QR code on the back of each train seat, providing live journey updates, the opportunity to order locally sourced food and drink, journey planning and station details, and a link to loyalty scheme LNER Perks. Information is now available in German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish and Simplified Chinese, in addition to English. To further support customers, many LNER colleagues also display country flags on their name badges, making it easier to identify team members who speak more than one language.
As well as the travel updates, All Onboard is home to the award-winning LNER podcast ‘Routes’.Hosted by Jenni Falconer, celebrity guests share an insight into their lives and explain more about what travel means to them. For younger travellers, the LNER Kids Club podcast offers a fun and engaging way to explore more about the railway and some of the fascinating places and history found along the East Coast route.
Nick Bibby, Customer Experience Improvement Manager at LNER, said: "Every year we welcome customers from across the UK and around the world onboard our trains. We know that English may not be everyone's first language, and that many people may be unfamiliar with the UK rail network, so we're really pleased to be making our onboard portal available in a number of languages. This update is a brilliant way for our customers to access travel information while travelling with us, and to help them to travel with greater confidence."
