LNER on board with Berwick Literary Festival
LNER is delighted to support one of Northumberland’s leading cultural events as the Official Transport Partner of the 2026 Berwick Literary Festival.
Taking place from 5 - 11 October 2026, this year’s festival will bring more than 55 events to venues across Berwick-upon-Tweed, featuring acclaimed authors, poets, historians, thinkers and performers alongside emerging and local voices.
Founded in 2014, Berwick Literary Festival has grown to become an important part of the cultural calendar in North Northumberland and the Borders. Its work also extends beyond the annual festival through activities in local schools and the wider community.
The theme for 2026 is How We Find Our Way, taking inspiration from the 200th anniversary of Berwick Lighthouse and exploring the people, places, ideas and stories which help us navigate the world.
Stuart Thomas, Communications Director at LNER, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be the Official Transport Partner of Berwick Literary Festival and to support an event which makes such an important contribution to Berwick and the wider North Northumberland community.
“Berwick is a very special destination on the LNER route, and the festival provides another fantastic reason for people to visit the town. With such a varied programme of writers, performers and events this year, we’re delighted to help connect people with the festival and everything Berwick has to offer.”
Joan Montgomery, Director of Berwick Literary Festival, said: “We’re delighted to welcome LNER as our Official Transport Partner and incredibly grateful for their support for this year’s festival.
“Berwick Literary Festival is very much rooted in our town and community, while also welcoming visitors and speakers from across the country. LNER’s support will help us continue to bring people together in Berwick to celebrate books, ideas and the power of words, and we’re very pleased to be working with them.”
The 2026 programme includes talks, readings, workshops and performances, alongside events for children and families, taking place at venues throughout the historic town.
