New Year, New Lounge: King’s Cross LNER First Class Lounge to undergo major refurbishment

An extensive refurbishment of the LNER First Class Lounge at London King’s Cross is due to begin at the end of January 2026 as LNER continues to deliver improved experiences for its customers.

This exciting investment has been developed in conjunction with customer feedback and will build on the popularity of the existing lounge, providing an even more comfortable space to relax and work.

The redesign will create additional seating capacity and dedicated zones for working, offering more flexibility and privacy. Heritage-inspired décor, layered lighting, and more greenery will also feature, enhancing the First Class ambience and creating a modern and welcoming environment.

Other improvements include additional luggage and pushchair storage areas, a redesigned reception area to welcome customers, and an opening up of the space by relocating the existing refreshments area. There will also be a refurbishment of the current toilet facilities.

Once completed, customers using the First Class Lounge can continue to look forward to enjoying complimentary drinks and snacks, including products sourced from across the near-1,000 mile LNER route.

Colette Casey, Customer Experience Director at LNER, said: “We recognise how much our customers enjoy using the First Class Lounge at London King’s Cross ahead of their journey. Throughout this investment, we have listened to what our customers would like from the space, and this redesign will bring some wonderful improvements that will be enjoyed by hundreds of customers every day.”

While the major refurbishment work is carried out, the lounge will be closed to customers. Work is due to start on 26 January 2026, with the modern, new space opening in spring 2026.

Colette continued: “While there is never an ideal time to close our First Class Lounge, we hope that the refurbishment will be exciting news for our customers, and we look forward to welcoming them into our new lounge in the spring.”
