David Horne, Managing Director at LNER, said: “It has been a poignant day – one of reflection and unity, as family members of those who died, former colleagues and the community have come together to remember the events of 25 years ago.”

Lila Tachtsi, Director, Engineering & Asset Management at Network Rail Eastern, said: "Our thoughts are with the individuals and families of those affected by the awful events of 25 years ago. The industry learned valuable lessons from the tragedy, and it was an honour to lay a wreath on behalf of Network Rail, alongside our industry colleagues, and pay tribute to those who were sadly lost in the incident and the brave railway and emergency service staff who were present on the day."
