‘Tis the season to travel: LNER brings Christmas onboard with festive flavours and fun

LNER is embracing the spirit of the season onboard its trains, as it prepares to help take thousands of customers home for Christmas.

From today (3 December 2025), the LNER First Class menu will have a festive feel, and there’s entertainment for younger travellers. A new Christmas-themed episode of the LNER Kids Club podcast will brighten journeys. Listeners can tune in by scanning the seat back QR code onboard.

With Christmas fast approaching, customers can choose seasonal favourites from the special menu, which features food and drink sourced locally from suppliers across the route. LNER will also offer a chef-prepared breakfast on selected services until 19 December.

LNER's Festive Menu Items

Among the highlights is an indulgent Christmas Dinner croque incorporating tender chicken breast, sage and onion stuffing, and cranberry sauce, topped off with creamy béchamel and mozzarella.

The Lunch and Evening selection also includes a colourful veg-packed vegan ‘All the trimmings’ wrap, a Boxing Day-style salad box, or a Christmas fritter salad featuring golden parsnip, infused rice and festive slaw. A banana and maple dessert pot or orange frangipane mincemeat tart provides a sweet finish.

Breakfast options include the popular bacon roll and plant-based sausage sandwich, and a seasonal twist on the overnight oats offering, with apple, sultanas, and a hint of cinnamon, brings a festive flavour.

For customers travelling in Standard, a range of refreshments including a ‘Pigs in Blankets’ roll can be delivered directly to their seat, through the ‘Let’s Eat At Your Seat’ service.

Sara Jenson, Hospitality Manager at LNER said: "Whether you’re getting in the festive spirit by tucking into a Christmas Dinner croque, or you’re travelling with children who are tuning in to Kids Club, there’s something for everyone onboard our trains this Christmas.

“At LNER, we take pride in providing the best experience for all our customers, and I hope we spread a bit of Christmas cheer over the festive period!”

Hosted by Emma-Louise Amanshia and Lauren Underwood, the special Christmas episode of the LNER Kids Club podcast explores Christmas markets, festive films and reveals rail-themed fun facts and Christmas cracker jokes, crafted to keep younger listeners entertained.
