LNER colleagues have completed an intensive safeguarding training day to help protect vulnerable customers during the festive travel period.

Two LNER colleagues were part of a group of veterans from across the rail industry who took part in the National Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in London on Sunday (9 November 2025). This was the first time the rail industry has been officially represented at the event. 

The extraordinary bravery of the LNER colleague who was seriously injured in Saturday’s (1 November 2025) incident at Huntingdon station, has been recognised.

LNER and Network Rail have announced the appointment of Gunnar Lindahl as Joint Operations Director – East Coast and LNER, a newly created role that marks a significant step forward in the integration of track and train across the East Coast route.

As part of LNER’s ongoing commitment to keeping customers informed about their rail journey, the train operator has launched a WhatsApp Channel to broadcast service updates, travel information, and advice during planned and unplanned disruptions.

In the early hours of Sunday 28 September 2025, LNER proudly welcomed the world-famous replica of Locomotion No. 1 into Darlington station as part of celebrations to mark the two hundredth anniversary of the modern passenger railway.
